魚体はホオノ木を素材に使って、各ヒレ一体で彫刻してある
丸彫り（物体のすべてを彫り出す）作品。彫刻と絵画を融合させたアート。
The material is Japanese White Bark. This fish is one piece.

若魚は濃密な群れをつくり、これを”ゴンズイ玉”という。体側の２本の黄色縦帯は老成魚になると 不鮮明になる。口ひげは４対、索餌の際に役立てている。そのためか眼は小さい。背鰭と胸鰭の棘 には猛毒がある。姿に似ず味はよい。本州中部以南に分布する。
